The third Visionär Filmfest will pitch its tent at the Acud Kino Berlin from 3rd to 7th of April. Presenting a selection of nine first or second feature films, an homage, as well as a selection of short films from Berlin-based filmmakers and a film concert, Visionär sees itself as trans-national and interdisciplinary. Tying together films from different points of view and social identities, the aim is to create a more all-encompassing experience from the friction between the portrayed worlds.

Submitted films this year are from Argentina, Canada, Chile, Finland, France, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Italy and Spain. The special homage honours queer filmmaker Bruce LaBruce by showing his first film NO SKIN OFF MY ASS (1993) and Kino Sonico cinematic concerts is showing short films by Stan Brakhage with live accompaniment by Frau W. and her musical robots. There‘s another highlight at the end: the screening of LALUCINA (D: Jonny Costantino and Fabio Badolato) will also have an introduction by Hannah Schygulla with a reading from the novel the film is based on.

To create a counterinitiative against male domination of the global filmic landscape Visionär Filmfest has made the conscious decision of showing more films by female*, queer and nonbinary directors than by male* ones.
