When explorers break open a cave, they release a species of flying monsters. The beasts soon attack all major settlements in America, wiping out humanity as they pass. Ally, a deaf teenager and her family try to escape the city but are attacked first by a marauder and then the "Vesps". The creatures hunt by sound so keeping quiet is essential for survival. But even for a family fluent in ASL this isn't easy.
