The friends Olaf and Horst are angry and bitter about the working climate in their factory. They actively want to change things, always supported by their fatherly friend, Paul Krautmann. Paul’s sudden death affects them deeply because he was their only friend and mentor in the factory.

When both got criticized in the factory’s internal bulletin, they are hurt and Olaf attacks physically the responsible editor. It is a film about the mistrust of fathers in the views of their sons, who don’t want to be only thankful but have their own ideas.

Gerhard Klein and Wolfgang Kohlhaase, influenced by the Italian neorealism narrate the life of the ordinary people in Berlin of the 60s. “Berlin, around the corner” is the fourth film from their Berlin series and shows knowledgably and full of sympathy the every-day life of the suburbs and the factories in. That’s how they create a sensitive atmosphere of those years. The film was originally forbidden and found its way into the cinemas 25 years after his making.
